ACES Mission Statement

The Association of Central European IB Schools (ACES) represents and promotes the educational and public interests of IB member schools and their communities, 'working together to support learning'.
As a community we foster sharing among member schools and support professional development.

Peter Murphy

Board Chair

Peter is currently the Director/CEO at Vienna International School since 2010, and a founding member of the Association. Peter has worked in education for 39 years, the past 26 years in senior leadership roles. Peter also serves as an elected member of the International Baccaluareate Heads Council as Vice Chair.

Paul Slocombe

Vice Chair

Paul has been the Director of the American International School of Budapest since 2013.
He has worked in education for 40 years, including 25 years in senior leadership positions. He is also a Board member of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA).

Michael Bardsley


Michael Bardsley is Director of senior schools of The Prague British School.

Brett Gray

Vice Chair

Brett is the Executive Director at The Ostrava International School.

Irena Steblaj

Vice Chair

Irena is the Head of Danila Kumar International School, Ljubljana. Irena is also a very active IBEN trainer running many workshops for the MYP programme.

Karen Eastwood

Vice Chair

Karen is the Principal of The British International School, Bratislava.
